Camille Jayne, Immediate Past President of NAWBO-OC, was featured in a glossy supplement in the OC Business Journal (July 9 & 16). Camille's company, Matters at Hand, along with its professional partner advisors, were the focus in the pull out supplement "Keys to Wealth Management."

NAWBO-OC business owners were front and center in the cover story "Million Dollar Milestone" by Kelly St. John in the July 19 issue of OC Metro. Creating an eye-popping cover was our member Sondra Ames, co-founder and CEO of Wonderland Bakery. The other companies profiled were NAWBO-OC members too: Cristi Cristich, Cristek Interconnects Inc.; Lisa Dale, Seabreeze Management, and Sue Parks, Walkstyles, Inc. Also referenced was Melinda Masson, NAWBO member who recently sold The Merit Companies. The story is a great "read" on how to do it right!

Marla Silva, NAWBO-OC member and founder of Marla’s Mania, was included in an OC Register story on July 30, "There's Green in Going Clean." Marla's company, which sells promotional items made from recycled materials, was cited as an earth-friendly OC company. Marla's Mania and Organic and Healthy, owned by Liz Schmidt, NAWBO-OC member and webmaster, are both listed in the Register's online roster of environmentally friendly companies that was generated from this article.

Bethany LaFlam of LaFlam Law LLP was quoted in the OC Metro story on Aug. 2, "Why You Didn't Get the Job," in which experts in the hiring field discussed what NOT to do to get hired. Bethany offered the legal perspective.

NAWBO-OC member Pam Adams, CFP, of A.G. Edwards, received recognition in OC Metro and the OC Register for earning the prestigious Certified Financial Planner certification. Congratulations Pam!

Dave Elliott of Vanguard University, a Corporate Member of NAWBO-OC, was recognized in OC Metro for his new appointment as Executive Director of the Vanguard University Foundation. Congratulations Dave!

Jacquelyn Tran, president of Perfume Bay and NAWBO-OC member, was again in Inc. Magazine. Jacquelyn's photo was the only one chosen for the August issue that referenced the 2007 "30 under 30" entrepreneurs—Jacquelyn was #4 on the 2006 list.

Upcoming Education Center Courses
Let Go to Grow: Stop Doing and Start Leading (Aug 15) Instructor: Joan Friedlander, Lifework Business Partners. Entrepreneurs and professionals who fail to let go of some of the day-to-day operations of running their business and delivering services spend HOURS on activities and projects that drain their energy. They run the risk of losing their creative edge; they can become frustrated and burned out. By hanging onto tasks, people and projects that no longer fit, they hinder their ability to grow, both personally and professionally.
Class will take place at Sunwest Bank, 17542 East 17th Street, Suite #200, Tustin, CA. MAP
