Janet Cronick, co-founder and past president of our affiliated organization, National Latina Business Women Association (NLBWA), was recently selected by the U.S. Small Business Association, Santa Ana District, as the 2007 Women in Business Champion of the Year. She will receive the award at the SBA's Small Business Week "Dream BIG" 44th Annual Awards Luncheon on May 17th. Congratulations, Janet!

Camille Jayne, NAWBO-OC President, will be featured on TV’s Cable News Journal on Cox and Time Warner through May 25th. She was interviewed by Richard Riesman, Publisher of the Orange County Business Journal, and talked about our NAWBO-OC chapter in the 30-minute interview discussing her corporate career, Matters at Hand, and NAWBO’s community efforts. Zov Karamardian celebrated the 20th anniversary of Zov's Bistro with a benefit extravaganza on May 6th. Coverage included such media outlets as OC Business Journal, OC Register, Gayot.com, Greer's OC, Chef Jamie Gwen/ KABC-AM, and Tustin News. Beneficiaries included SPIN and UCI's Susan Samueli Center for Integrative Medicine.

A record 26 NAWBO-OC members were nominated for the 2007 Orange County Business Journal's Women in Business Awards. All were included in the newspaper's May 7th profile of nominees. There's too many to list here, but check the NAWBO-OC ad in the May 7th issue for the complete list. (this issue will be distributed at May 24 OCBJ WIB luncheon).

Sue Parks, CEO of WalkStyles, recently launched the WeWhoWalkTour—50 states in 50 weeks—in Boise, ID, and was featured on the Satellite Sisters syndicated radio program, plus local outlets such as the Idaho Statesman and the local NBC affiliate.

Colleen Edwards, president of PowerMark Group, was included in the Media & Marketing column in the April 9th OCBJ, in which the PR firm's new podcasts with local technology leaders were described.

Sondra Ames, founder of Wonderland Bakery, was included in the Marketplace column of the May 7 OCBJ, describing her company's Wonderland-Gund branded bears and Sondra's winning the MOMS Business Mother of the Year Award, presented on May 11th.

Sandra Robbie, who is set to launch her national Mendez vs. Westminster Magical History Tour in her VW Bus, was most recently written about in the April 12th issue of OC Metro. More to come as the tour unfolds in May.

Hilary Kaye, president of HKA, Inc. and NAWBO-OC Board Member, was featured in the April 26th OC Metro article: "Giving Back." The corporate philanthropy article included Hilary's comments about her MS Walk team Ruby's Raiders and a photo in a ruby red team shirt.

Wayne Pinnell, managing partner of Haskell & White LLP and NAWBO-OC Corporate Member, also was included in the April 26 OC Metro article "Giving Back." Pinnell described the firm's longstanding commitment to the performing arts and also the firm's "casual Friday" donations.

, owner of Chef Marie LLC, announces that she has been tapped to be the Nutritionist/Fitness Chef Board Member of the new American Health Media Company. Chef Marie is the co-author of the book The Saint-Tropez Diet.

Kimberly Gerber, president of Excelerate, announces a national deal signed with Verizon. The third national contract signed recently by Kim, this one follows deals with Invensys and Clarient.

Susan VerBurg, CEO of Merlex Stucco and Vero Venetian Plaster, reveals that her company's distinctive Italian plaster has been selected for a two-year project Irvine Company project on the new Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Coast. Sounds gorgeous!
