MEMBERS IN THE NEWS
Sondra Ames, co-founder of Wonderland Bakery and NAWBO-OC member, had a sneak peek in the October 1 OC Business Journal and October 5 OC Register. The newspapers described the new Wonderland Bakery Adventure, open November 1 at South Coast Plaza, joining the original Newport Beach location.

NAWBO-OC member Jacquelyn Tran, who is in a continuing legal battle with eBay, enjoyed front page coverage of the David and Goliath battle in the October 4 legal newspaper The Daily Journal, with editions in LA and SF. Additional stories ran on Forbes.com and legal.entrepreneur.com.

Hilary Kaye, of HKA, Inc., and Cara Good, of Wundermarx/PR Inc., both NAWBO-OC board members and corporate partners, were quoted in the October 1 issue of OC Business Journal on the current state of the PR industry in OC. They addressed the impact of the Internet on their client's PR campaigns.

MEMBER NEWS
Janet Cronick, of Ultimate Gifts and NAWBO-OC member, was invited by the State Department to travel to Peru in September to participate in a series of seminars sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Lima. Janet shared her experience as a small business owner with micro-entrepreneurs from Lima, Amazon region and Andean mountains, as part of the Embassy's program to help small businesses prepare for the upcoming U.S.-Peru Free Trade Agreement.

AWARDS
Enterprising Women Magazine
is now accepting nominations for the 6th Annual Enterprising Women of the Year Awards that will be presented at a special reception on February 29th, 2008. Five awards will be given to businesses that have revenues from 1 million to over 25 million dollars. Award winners receive national recognition for themselves and their businesses through local, regional and national publicity. Every winner and finalist is profiled in Enterprising Women magazine, and the top award winners will appear on the magazine’s front cover in the spring of 2008. The United States Small Business Administration is accepting nominations for a number of awards that will be presented during Small Business Week in 2008 including Small Business Person of the Year, Exporter of the Year, and Young Entrepreneur. Small Business Champion Awards are given to individuals who have used their skills to further public awareness of small business in the following categories: Minority Small Business Champion, Women in Business Champion, Veteran Small Business Champion, Home-Based Business Champion, Financial Services Champion, and Small Business Journalist. You Can Weigh-in on Health Care
The National Health Care Policy Task Force has made an exciting debut. 30-plus members are looking at what is and isn't working in state health care reform to help NAWBO develop informed recommendations for the upcoming national policy debate. Inspired by the recent NAWBO California health care survey, a national survey is being planned. Contact Roxane Johnson at Susan Shargel's office to join the task force.
