Guidelines for NAWBO-OC e-News and Website Publishing & Advertising (2/3/04)

1. GENERAL NEWS ITEMS, which appear only on the monthly e-news page and emailed newsletter, will be accepted from, in order of placement priority:
- NAWBO-OC members (individual, corporate and community)
- NAWBO-OC affiliates
- NAWBO-CA and NAWBO-National office and corporate partners
- Other parties as appropriate, budget and space permitting
SEE NOTE BELOW for acceptance guidelines.

2. OTHER NEWS CATEGORIES: In addition to general news items (item #1 above) several other categories of news items are accepted. Click on the highlighted titles below to visit the related sub-pages. These items are accepted from NAWBO-OC members only (individual, corporate and community) and generally limited to 30 words. These are included on the monthly e-news webpage, e-mailed newsletter, and on the linked sub-page. SEE NOTE BELOW for acceptance guidelines. News items will normally be published, at the discretion of the editor or newsletter/website committee, within one week of submittal, and will be included in the emailed newsletter the next time it is published—the Monday or Tuesday following the monthly meeting.
a. Member News
b. Corporate Member News
c. Affiliate News
d. Kudos
e. Wants & Needs
f. Help Wanted
g. Thank You
h. Business Opportunities

NOTE REGARDING ACCEPTANCE OF NEWS ITEMS: News items must be newsworthy, timely, concise, and not promotional. In general, we do not post:
a) Events hosted or organized by members for the primary purpose of developing business leads, showcasing products or services, or earning income from fees charged to attendees. If members wish to promote these events they may use a paid ad to do so—see item #6 below.
b) Events hosted by business or women's organizations that are not our affiliates. This is a benefit of affiliation—see affiliates page for information.
c) Events for charities. Because our members are involved in so many charitable organizations the number of such listings would be excessive, and in keeping with NAWBO-OC’s diversity of membership the chapter must avoid the appearance of endorsing any particular charity.

3. MEMBER SPOTLIGHTS are accepted from NAWBO-OC individual members only and limited to 250 words.

4. Business-related EDUCATIONAL ARTICLES are accepted from NAWBO-OC members only (individual, corporate and community) and limited to 500 words.

5. The ONLINE CALENDAR will include only those events sponsored by NAWBO-OC, NAWBO-CA, or NAWBO-National. Exceptions to this rule will be considered if the event:
a) provides a valuable benefit to a large number of NAWBO members
b) contributes toward the defined goals of NAWBO
c) provides something in which members have expressed an interest
d) does not conflict or compete with NAWBO-sponsored events or programs
e) is of high quality and does not negatively impact the credibility of NAWBO
f) is not presented in order to promote a presenter's business
If all or most of these criteria are met, the news editor must get approval of other board members before publishing the event.

6. PAID E-NEWS ADS are available on a monthly basis.
a) 100 words or less, text only.
b) Cost = $50 per month.
c) Available to NAWBO-OC members only (individual, corporate and community).
d) Ads are due by the day of the monthly meeting, and published the following Monday on the website e-news page and in the emailed e-news.
e) Maximum number of ads per month is three. Ads will be listed in order of submission. If there are more than three wanting to advertise, the first ones paid for will be run, and the others will be notified that their ad will be published in the following month's e-news unless canceled. EXCEPTION: To give all members an opportunity to advertise, new advertisers who submit and pay for an ad before the deadline will be given priority over members who have placed an ad in the past 3 months.

7. PAID BANNER ADS are available on a quarterly basis to NAWBO-OC members only (individual, corporate and community). Cost = $100 per quarter.

All news and website items must be submitted in digital format using submission form.
